Rocky Butte Farmers Market operates on the current and ancestral territories of the Multnomah, Clackamas, and Cascade-Watlala bands of the Chinook. Also called Mowitch Illihee, “home of the deer”, Rocky Butte and its surrounding neighborhoods are on stolen land. We recognize that the produce that’s the cornerstone of our market only exists because of the Indigenous communities that cared for this land, who continue to lead efforts in food sovereignty, ecological care, and community resilience.
We are dedicated to supporting and uplifting Indigenous Peoples in our community with intentional and meaningful actions. Three percent of total booth fees during market season will be directly donated to local Indigenous farmers, families, and organizations. To create equitable access for Native people at our market, we always offer booth fee discounts for all BIPOC vendors. Market staff is also dedicated to regularly volunteering with local Indigenous groups whose efforts allow our community to thrive.
If you would like more information on how we are supporting Native Peoples in our neighborhood, or have suggestions on what we can be doing better, please contact our Market Director Liz at managers@rockybuttemarket.com.
